I’m on my second… the first one had the cam gear explode going 30mph around 175k miles and being an interference engine took everything w ith it . Currently at just over 220k on the body and the new engine is around 120k? I would have to check my paperwork

There is a reason I’ve owned three of them. First was a silver bugeye wagon new , sold it when I bought my black 04 STI new. Once the STI got 10,000 miles, I modded it within an inch of it’s life to the tune of 600whp. It was an awful mistake and ended up parting out all the mods taking it back to stock and putting in a used EJ207. Then I sold because in this time I had gotten married and had a child. Then a few years later someone gave me a black bugeye wagon, like yours, only it had major problems and 245k miles. It had severe wrist pin wear so it sounded like it had paint cans for pistons, and the turbo was completely seized. When I took the engine apart the headgaskets were perfect, so it had that going for it. I put in a junkyard motor and sold it for 2500 bucks.
Congrats on 7 years. Hope the second gear pulls are always as fun as I remember.

600hp sounds fun but yeah I can’t imagine it lasts long. I’ve luckily stayed away from too many go fast mods and stuck with handling/driving feel
